Straight ball styli cover many inspection tasks, but component geometry can require different contact shapes or access directions. Specialized configurations help reach features that a simple straight stylus cannot measure efficiently.
Straight styli
A straight stylus is often the simplest configuration for general dimensional inspection. It is a useful starting point when the feature can be reached directly.
Star styli
Star configurations provide contact directions around a central assembly and can reduce the need to repeatedly change orientation when several side-facing features must be reached.
Cylinder styli
Cylinder contacts provide a different contact geometry from a ball and can be useful for suitable edges, thin features or other measurement tasks where a cylindrical contact surface is required.
Extensions and adapters
Extensions increase reach and adapters connect different elements of a stylus assembly. Both should be treated as functional parts of the complete configuration, with attention to compatibility and rigidity.
